Coastal Flood Pathways
Many of the Mystic’s densest neighborhoods and most critical economic and infrastructure hubs are built on filled wetlands. As sea level rises and storm surges become more intense, these low-lying areas and the dams built to protect them are at growing risk from coastal flooding.
RMC members are collaborating within and across borders to advocate for and implement a coordinated system of long-term coastal flood control projects. Driven by data and guided by community input, we are transforming low-lying waterfront areas with improved parks, paths, and infrastructure that will block coastal flood pathways and protect the region.
